Auto Website Analysis, And Why You Shouldn't

Okay you… yeah, I mean you…

Every SEO Company out there seems to offer a "Free Website Analysis", normally performed by some auto program that automatically crawls your site and tells you what you are missing.

Point links to new pages... don't just count on sitemap.xml

A good video from Matt Cutts...

As a general rule, you should always poont your offsite content back to the original source URL on your site (when doing the link campaign). Not only does this bring people back to your site, but it tells the search engines where the "original content" is. This helps most for duplicate content and link authority.

Why you are getting different search results...

We've been getting a lot of clients ask us why they are seeing different search results. We even have some that test their search against someone in another part of the country. Our standard answer has always been Web History or a different Google data center (both of which are very common). Not to say that isn't still the case, but Google has come out to say that they are testing 40% of searches with different algorithms.

Linking Schemes (why you shouldn't)

Why you shouldn't do linking schemes... you can get banned.

Many people feel that the quickest way to jump your rankings is to build links. And though it is important to have as many "quality" links as you can get, the search engines know which are which.

The best way to build popularity back to your site is naturally. How do you do this? Time. SEO (or online marketing) is never a race, it is always about providing searchers with the most quality result to what they are searching for.

Google Analytics - Google Conversion University

SEO is more that optimizing your site and building links. It actually more than branding and market analysis. SEO is determining what works and what is not working. What pages convert and why. Why do some pages convert more than others and why do some pages need more work to better convert your traffic to leads.

You can still optimize your listing by selecting the correct categories, as well as being consistent with your listings on other websites. Google pulls all those other links to match your listing and give it a better chance to show up no matter where someone searches in your area.

Google SEO Starter Guide

So I know this is an oldie, but there is a ton to learn from this little document. Some make SEO this huge under taking (and in many cases is can be), but really what does the search engines want... They want you to find what you are looking for (period). If they fail to do this, you find that their service is broken, and you move onto some other form of searching. This is why there are few at the top.
